IUPUI Commencement is the university’s official, campus-wide Commencement ceremony. It will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday, May 11.
How many tickets can I get for my family and guests?
Tickets are not required for IUPUI Commencement or for any of the school recognition events.
Will my name be read at IUPUI Commencement?
Only doctoral students’ names will be read at IUPUI Commencement. However, individual recognition by name takes place at most school events.
8 a.m. Students should arrive at Lucas Oil Stadium at the entrance on the northeast side of the building, at the corner of South Street and Capitol Avenue. This is the entertainment entrance, nearest the Colts Pro Shop.
8 a.m. All entrances on the north, west, and south sides of Lucas Oil Stadium will be open to families, friends, and the general public.
9 a.m. Student procession and diploma cover presentation begins. Please eat breakfast before you arrive at Lucas Oil Stadium.
10 a.m. IUPUI Commencement begins. It will last approximately two hours. Concession stands will be open in both Lucas Oil Stadium and the Indiana Convention Center.
One hour after IUPUI Commencement ends. Most school recognition events will take place after IUPUI Commencement. School events differ in program length, but the average is approximately one hour.

Professional photographs will be taken of each degree candidate at IUPUI Commencement.
You’ll receive detailed instructions and an identification card in the robing area.
Faculty marshals will lead graduates in the IUPUI Commencement procession and direct them to seating. When you enter the row, please sit in the next available chair. At the beginning of IUPUI Commencement, all graduates and faculty will rise and remain standing through the singing of The Star-Spangled Banner.
At the end of IUPUI Commencement, please remain at your seat. Faculty marshals will direct all graduates to exit by row. Ushers then will lead graduates to the Indiana Convention Center, where school recognition events will be held.
How do I get my diploma?
Each school has its own method for distributing diplomas. Be sure to check with your school’s contact(s) if you have any questions about receiving yours.
How do I get a diploma cover?
Diploma covers are presented to only those graduates who participate in IUPUI Commencement at Lucas Oil Stadium in May. If your degree completion is tentatively set for August, or you are not participating in IUPUI Commencement for another reason, please contact your school’s contact(s)' to find out how to obtain a diploma cover.
How do I get my honor cord?
Honor cords are distributed by the schools prior to IUPUI Commencement. Check with your school contact(s) to learn where and when to pick up your honor cords.
Do not bring
Alcoholic beverages, fireworks, balloons, and signs are not allowed in Lucas Oil Stadium or the Indiana Convention Center. Please respect your fellow graduates and refrain from bringing these items.
Do not leave purses, coats, or other personal items in the robing area during IUPUI Commencement. Event organizers and venues will not be responsible for lost items.
