Accessibility Accommodations

For Graduates with Wheelchairs and Mobility Devices

Graduates with wheelchairs or mobility devices should contact the Commencement team as early as possible. We will work to accommodate seating with other graduates.

Limited first-come, first-served accessible parking for vehicles with a valid accessibility parking permit is available in the Sports Complex Garage and Riverwalk Garage.

For Guests with Wheelchairs and Mobility Difficulties

Designated areas will be available for wheelchair seating at IUPUI Commencement. A limited number of wheelchairs also will be available at no charge to guests on a first-come, first-served basis. Ushers will direct guests to wheelchair seating and wheelchair distribution centers.

For those guests who do not use wheelchairs but have difficulty going up and down ramps or stairs, as well as individuals who use walkers or canes, the Commencement team is on-site to help. No advanced arrangements are needed—just find an usher at the entrance of the event.

Limited first-come, first-served accessible parking is available in the Barnhill Parking Garage. All IUPUI Shuttles and IndyGo bus vehicles are equipped with ADA-accessible ramps and seating, too. Find out more about traveling to campus.

For Graduates and Guests with Vision and Hearing Impairments

For attendees who have difficulty hearing, IUPUI Commencement will be open-captioned on several large screens in Michael A. Carroll Stadium. There will also be a limited number of seats in view of an American Sign Language interpreter for those with that preference.

For those with limited vision, speakers are carefully placed around the stadium to maximize your ability to hear speeches and instruction.
